About the Role
You will investigate new and existing clients to verify their identities, ownership structures, and business activities, including enhanced due diligence for high-risk clients. You will screen clients against sanctions lists, politically exposed persons lists, and adverse media; review supporting documents; document findings; and report suspicious activity. You will advise internal stakeholders on compliance requirements and help improve internal controls, workflows, and automated reporting for onboarding.
Requirements
- Understand AML/KYC regulations, including BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, and FINRA requirements.
- Understand financial crime risk frameworks.
- Interpret complex financial data to identify anomalies or trends.
- Communicate verbally and in writing about sensitive compliance matters.
- Use external databases, company registries, and research tools such as World-Check, Dow Jones, and Dun & Bradstreet.
- Have 2–5 years of relevant compliance or financial-services experience.
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or Accounting.
- CAMS certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence on new and existing clients.
- Verify client identities, ownership structures, and business activities.
- Conduct background checks and screen against sanctions lists, politically exposed persons lists, and adverse media.
- Gather and review supporting documentation for compliance with internal policies and external laws.
- Document findings and report suspicious activities to compliance officers or regulatory bodies.
- Advise Front Office, Sales, and Relationship Management teams on compliance requirements, onboarding status, and documentation needs.
- Improve internal controls, workflows, and automated reporting systems for onboarding.
