About the Role
You develop, maintain, and scale Java and Kotlin systems supporting 24/7 trading activity. You build distributed, real-time, event-driven services, integrate trading venues, design reference data and accounting infrastructure, improve production code, and own technical solutions from design through delivery and ongoing support. You also collaborate with investment stakeholders and use AI-assisted development tools.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong commercial Java experience
- Experience designing and developing distributed systems
- Experience with real-time, event-driven, or high-availability production systems
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, system design, and production reliability
- Ability to maintain, debug, and improve existing production code
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commercial Kotlin experience
- Experience in financial services, trading, banking, hedge funds, or fintech
- Experience with cryptocurrency or digital assets
- Knowledge of crypto exchanges, trading venues, protocols, or market infrastructure
- Experience developing collateral, position, accounting, market data, or reference data systems
- Experience with Python
- Experience with Apache Kafka or other event streaming technologies
- Experience using AI-assisted software development tools
- Understanding of traditional financial instruments and financial market infrastructure
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance the multi-venue collateral management system
- Build resilient distributed, real-time, and event-driven systems
- Build and maintain integrations with trading venues
- Design reference data frameworks and accounting pipelines
- Develop primarily in Java and Kotlin
- Contribute to architecture and technical design
- Maintain, refactor, and improve existing production code
- Develop new functionality
- Own technical problems from design through production delivery and ongoing support
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality
