About the Role

You will execute in-depth financial analyses supporting new business development, transaction execution, and investment banking products and services. You will perform research and financial modeling, apply valuation methods, conduct due diligence, prepare management and client presentations, participate in client meetings, research industries, support client relationships, improve processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor interns and less experienced analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Internship or prior work experience in financial services, ideally M&A
  • Proven track record in university studies
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Excellent mathematical, writing, verbal, and computer skills
  • Ability to adapt to new tasks with little notice
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong desire to win
  • Developing increasingly sound judgment
  • Thorough understanding of accounting and finance
  • Commitment to satisfying internal and external customers
  • Approximately 5% travel

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial and valuation analyses for mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising transactions
  • Build financial models using comparable companies, precedent transactions, and discounted cash flow methods
  • Perform due diligence, research, analysis, and documentation for potential and live transactions
  • Identify potential deal issues and escalate concerns to team members
  • Draft management presentations highlighting financial analysis and research results
  • Assist with developing, producing, and delivering proposals and presentations to clients and prospects
  • Draft marketing materials emphasizing William Blair’s investment banking methods and approach
  • Participate in client meetings and drafting sessions
  • Research industries and sectors to target clients or industries
  • Evaluate and improve BIC content
  • Streamline processes and propose more efficient solutions
  • Develop an understanding of client needs and challenges
  • Provide professional and responsive client service
  • Develop an understanding of macroeconomic factors related to client industries and investment banking products
  • Mentor summer interns and teach subsequent analyst classes
  • Ensure activities comply with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
