About the Role
The Centre for Effective Altruism is hiring a senior leader to shape the EA Infrastructure Fund, oversee an updated Community Building Grants program, and contribute to the broader strategy of EA Funds. The role combines rigorous grantmaking, strategic direction, donor development, partnerships, community representation, and hiring as the fund grows. It is a full-time remote position with preferred working hours between US Pacific Time and CET, access to an Oxford office, and approximately 4–6 annual trips.

- Experience in grantmaking, philanthropic leadership, or related fields is valuable.
- Experience building and scaling products or programs is valuable.
- Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets or leading fundraising efforts is valuable.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and evaluate grant opportunities, including theories of change, team strength, and expected impact.
- Source high-quality applications and grantmaking opportunities.
- Communicate grantmaking reasoning through reports, applicant feedback, and public writing.
- Improve EA Funds grantmaking processes.
- Develop EAIF strategy, focus areas, grant types, and ecosystem role.
- Oversee the Community Building Grants program and its worldwide grantmaking.
- Represent EAIF, CBG, and EA Funds to the EA community and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the broader strategic direction of EA Funds.
- Grow EAIF's donor base with other CEA teams.
- Build and cultivate potential donor relationships.
- Communicate EAIF's impact and strategy to donors.
- Develop partnerships with aligned funders and organizations.
- Collaborate with grantees to maximize their impact.
- Contribute to strategic thinking on EA funding priorities.
- Hire and manage staff as the fund grows.

- US total compensation package of $157,435, including a $143,123 base salary and 10% unconditional 401k contribution.
- UK total compensation package of £94,711, including an £86,101 base salary and 10% pension contribution.
