About the Role
You will serve as the senior compliance authority across LATAM, manage regulatory relationships, and lead regional compliance professionals. You will implement localised compliance frameworks, monitor regulatory developments, oversee reviews and investigations, submit compliance reports, and partner with business, legal, product, data, engineering, finance, and risk stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of compliance experience in financial services, fintech, or cryptocurrency.
- Experience in regulatory or licensing advisory, financial crime, or both.
- Experience with AML/FT and sanctions compliance.
- Understanding of the LATAM regulatory landscape, particularly Argentina and El Salvador.
- Knowledge of local AML law, data privacy, consumer protection, and crypto regulation.
- Experience with KYC/KYB, CDD/EDD, ongoing monitoring, and risk assessment.
- Analytical, research, and due diligence skills.
- Spanish and English communication and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of the crypto industry and global work environments.
- CAMS, FIBA, or another relevant financial crime compliance certification.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior compliance authority for LATAM and hold accountability for regulatory relationships across regional jurisdictions.
- Lead regional engagement with regulators, including inspections, inquiries, and regulatory positioning.
- Lead, develop, and coordinate MLROs and compliance professionals across multiple markets.
- Partner with senior business, legal, and product leaders to embed compliance requirements into strategic decisions, product launches, and market expansions.
- Implement and maintain compliance policies, procedures, controls, and frameworks aligned with the Global Compliance Standard.
- Adapt policies and procedures for local markets.
- Identify compliance gaps and recommend remediation strategies.
- Collaborate with Data, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Product, and Risk to operationalize compliance initiatives.
- Monitor and assess compliance with regional laws, regulations, and policies.
- Supervise compliance reviews, investigations, and suspicious activities.
- Prepare and submit periodic compliance reports to local authorities.
- Support special projects as needed.
- Act as an operational point of contact for local regulators and auditors.
- Monitor emerging crypto-industry trends and regulatory developments across LATAM.
