About the Role
You will establish block, file, and object storage for training, sandbox, and general-compute workloads. You will choose when to deploy vendor platforms and when to build Go services. You will own allocation, duplication, tiering, backup, recovery, and S3-compatible APIs; plan multi-datacenter capacity and failure domains; build and manage the team; and shape the storage roadmap with product partners.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of people leadership experience
- Experience building object, block, or distributed filesystem storage systems
- Distributed systems knowledge including durability, consistency, replication, erasure coding, and failure domains
- Production Go experience or readiness to write Go daily
- Knowledge of HDD, SSD, and NVMe storage tiers
- 8+ years building backend or infrastructure systems
- Experience partnering with product, design, and business teams
Responsibilities
- Build block, file, and object storage systems
- Make build-versus-buy decisions for storage platforms
- Own allocation, duplication, tiering, backup, recovery, and S3-compatible APIs
- Plan capacity across datacenters and failure domains
- Hire, onboard, coach, and manage engineers
- Partner with Product Managers on the storage roadmap and tradeoffs
