About the Role

You will directly manage and develop engineers while owning the delivery, operational health, scale, and cost of time-series and log storage systems and their query layer. You will set direction, manage on-call operations, coordinate dependencies, recruit engineers, and align priorities with partners.

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on backend or distributed-systems engineering experience
2+ years of directly managing software engineers
Experience coaching senior and staff-level engineers
Experience delivering multi-phase projects against fixed deadlines
Experience operating systems customers depend on during incidents
Familiarity with Kubernetes
Strong communication and cross-functional judgment

Responsibilities

Manage, develop, and grow a team of engineers
Own time-series and log storage systems and their query layer
Plan and sequence customer-facing and infrastructure roadmap work
Set technical direction with staff engineers
Maintain availability, query performance, and correctness
Own the on-call rotation and operational health of the storage and query stack
Manage retention, downsampling, cardinality, and storage tiering tradeoffs
Coordinate dependencies across collection, ingestion, platform, and customer-facing teams
Recruit, interview, and onboard engineers
Align priorities with product, infrastructure teams, managers, and leadership
