About the Role
You will own thermal solutions for launch and recovery systems, develop heat-transfer and fluid-flow models, and validate designs through testing. You will lead trade studies, guide design decisions, support prototype and production builds, and collaborate across mechanical, electrical, avionics, manufacturing, and test functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- 2+ years of professional thermal-engineering experience
- Expertise in heat transfer and fluid mechanics
- Understanding of active and passive cooling solutions
- Knowledge of TIMs, spreaders, heat sinks, vapor chambers, heat pipes, and fans
- Proficiency with thermal-analysis and CFD tools such as ANSYS Icepak, FloEFD, or STAR-CCM+
- Experience with CAD tools such as NX or SolidWorks
- Ability to apply first-principles reasoning to engineering problems
- Ability to obtain an S//SAR security clearance is desired
Responsibilities
- Own thermal solutions for aircraft launch and recovery systems
- Develop and validate heat-transfer and fluid-flow models
- Prototype, test, and iterate mechanism designs
- Lead trade studies, architecture decisions, and risk assessments
- Drive test planning, instrumentation, and data analysis
- Identify risks and influence mechanical, electrical, and PCBA design decisions
- Collaborate across engineering and manufacturing functions
- Support prototype integration, pre-production builds, and ground and flight testing
- Participate in design reviews and technical decision-making
- Improve design processes, configuration management, and workflows
