About Commonware, Inc.
Commonware, Inc. develops the Commonware Library, a collection of composable primitives for blockchain builders. The library provides components for Byzantine consensus, encrypted peer-to-peer communication, cryptography, authenticated storage, erasure coding, deployment, and runtime execution. It is intended for developers building specialized blockchains and onchain applications, with example implementations including Alto and Constantinople.

About the Role
Join a lean, senior team building open MIT/Apache-2 blockchain infrastructure primitives. You will direct your focus toward high-priority problems in your area of expertise, such as distributed data streaming, onchain execution environments, cryptographic optimization, embedded database performance, or blockchain user experiences. The team gathers in person at the Palo Alto office every few months.
Requirements
- Be based in the United States
- Experience leading a productive engineering organization
- Experience maintaining a large open-source codebase, especially in Rust
- Understand the difference between writing code and writing the right code
Responsibilities
- Stream unstructured data over globally distributed infrastructure
- Design and test onchain execution environments
- Optimize cryptographic primitives using math and assembly
- Push the performance of embedded databases to the limit
- Craft intuitive experiences for users exploring fast blockchains
