About the Role

You help drive security detection and response initiatives, with a focus on maturing detection and alerting capabilities across federal and public sector environments. You review logs and alerts, triage potential incidents, maintain runbooks, improve automated remediation, analyze attacker patterns, and design automation to detect and respond to threats.

Requirements

  • 3-4 years of information technology experience or equivalent education, technical training, or work experience
  • Experience in information security, especially with C/SIRT, CERT, CSIRC, or SOC teams
  • Experience with query-based log management solutions such as ELK, Datadog, or Panther
  • Strong deductive reasoning and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate complex security issues clearly to peers and management
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to document technical details succinctly
  • Prior experience with government entities or highly regulated environments
  • Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or Network+
  • Experience with workflow automation tooling such as Tines or Swimlane

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and assist with security requests and incidents
  • Review logging, alerting, and audit sources
  • Identify potential security incidents
  • Perform initial triage on identified incidents
  • Create, maintain, and tune runbooks and security alerts
  • Improve security alerting and automated remediation with Security Engineers
  • Use log ingestion platforms for security analytics
  • Identify attacker tactics, techniques, and patterns
  • Design and implement threat detection and response automation
