About Somnia
Somnia is a blockchain network positioned as an 'Agentic L1', designed with a multi-stream consensus mechanism to deliver the highest throughput and lowest latency of any EVM-compatible chain. Its IceDB database enables predictable, sub-cent gas pricing at scale. The chain's architecture and Solidity extensions allow developers to build reactive applications where smart contracts can listen and automatically execute when onchain data or events change. A key feature, Somnia Agents, lets smart contracts natively query external APIs, run deterministic AI models, and scrape websites, all validated onchain—enabling use cases such as AI-resolved prediction markets and hyper-performance DeFi with full onchain order books and matching engines. About the Role
You'll take concepts from DeFi mechanics to agentic workflows and turn them into working prototypes, live demos, and visual content that makes developers and users say "I need to build on this." This is a hands-on builder role. You won't be waiting for briefs. You'll spot opportunities, prototype fast, and ship things that make Somnia's capabilities real and visible. You should be someone who reaches for AI tools instinctively and treats them as a multiplier on your output.
Requirements
- Solid Solidity and EVM development experience (writing, deploying, and interacting with smart contracts)
- Ability to build frontend interfaces for demos (framework of your choice)
- Strong self-direction — generate ideas, not just execute them
- Comfort with rapid prototyping; shipping a rough demo in days, not weeks
- Heavy use of AI tools as a core part of your development workflow
- Good instincts for what makes a demo compelling vs. forgettable
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Experience producing video walkthroughs and live coding sessions (nice to have)
- Ability to create reusable starter kits and templates (nice to have)
- Experience with CLOB/orderbook-based DEXs or trading systems (nice to have)
- Strong design skills for presenting demos (nice to have)
- Familiarity with AI agent frameworks or autonomous agent design (nice to have)
- Video production or live streaming experience (nice to have)
- Previous DevRel, hackathon, or developer education work (nice to have)
- Understanding of DeFi primitives (AMMs, lending, stablecoins, yield) (nice to have)
Responsibilities
- Build demo dApps that showcase Somnia's speed, cost, and execution
- Create trading bot demos that highlight Somnia's execution and agentic workflows
- Prototype agentic apps such as autonomous agents coordinating onchain and prediction market resolvers
- Ideate independently by monitoring the ecosystem, spotting trends, and proposing demos that position Somnia ahead of competitors
- Collaborate with DevRel, Marketing, and BD to align demos with GTM priorities and partnership opportunities
