About the Role
You will own the physical infrastructure lifecycle across European colocation sites. You will deploy, refresh, troubleshoot, document, monitor capacity for, and decommission datacenter hardware. You will coordinate providers and contractors, support wireless sites, participate in incident response and on-call support, and automate repetitive operational work.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on datacenter experience in a business-critical production environment
- Server hardware knowledge, including rack installation, PDUs, firmware, BIOS, out-of-band management, and component-level troubleshooting
- Structured cabling knowledge across copper, DAC, Twinax, and SM/MM fibre, including optical testing
- Understanding of colocation power, cooling, redundancy, and environmental monitoring
- Basic Cisco or Arista networking and Linux or Debian troubleshooting and configuration experience
- Experience managing colocation providers, carriers, contractors, cross-connects, and remote hands
- Project delivery, documentation, incident management, and stakeholder communication skills
- Willingness to travel frequently across Europe and participate in on-call support
- Valid driving licence and unrestricted ability to travel to and work at provider sites across the EU
Responsibilities
- Rack, cable, power, commission, troubleshoot, and decommission servers, storage, and network equipment
- Deliver datacenter deployments, hardware refreshes, site expansions, and connectivity projects
- Act as the on-site escalation point for physical infrastructure incidents
- Monitor and forecast rack space, power, cooling, and cross-connect capacity
- Manage cross-connects, remote hands, site access, carriers, colocation providers, and contractors
- Maintain hardware, spares, cabling, rack elevation, and site documentation
- Coordinate hardware shipping, RMAs, receiving, and asset disposal
- Support microwave and wireless locations
- Participate in change management, incident response, postmortems, and on-call support
- Standardize infrastructure practices and automate repetitive tasks
