About the Role
You will report to a Product Manager and act as the domain expert who turns trading workflows into clear, build-ready requirements. You will run discovery workshops, shadow traders and operators, write user stories and acceptance criteria, and produce process flows, data models and functional specifications. You will liaise with stakeholders across trading, operations and back-office, refine and groom the backlog with the PM and dev team, and define realistic QA test scenarios covering lifecycle edge cases. You will be the SME for the physical oil trade lifecycle and Modes of Transport, helping ensure solutions meet operational needs.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner or Project Manager in commodities or trading technology, or a minimum of 3 years as an oil products commercial operator or scheduler moving into a product role
- Hands-on knowledge of the physical oil trade lifecycle from execution through settlement
- Exposure to multiple Modes of Transport including marine, pipeline, rail, truck and barge
- Familiarity with CTRM/ETRM systems (RightAngle, Allegro, Endur or similar)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams (user stories, acceptance criteria, refinement, demos)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work with data to derive insights
- Excellent verbal and written communication and stakeholder management skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
- Nice to have: understanding of AI Intelligent Document Processing (IDP), exposure to blockchain/DLT or post-trade digitisation, awareness of REMIT, EMIR or MiFID II
Responsibilities
- Elicit detailed business and user requirements through workshops and trader/operator shadowing
- Capture requirements as user stories with clear acceptance criteria
- Produce process flows, lifecycle event maps, data models and functional specifications
- Liaise day-to-day with originators, trading desks, schedulers, operators and back-office to surface needs and validate solutions
- Refine and groom backlog items with the PM and development team
- Slice work into deliverable increments
- Define realistic QA test scenarios covering lifecycle edge cases
- Act as the team's subject matter expert on the physical oil trade lifecycle and Modes of Transport
