About the Role
You will develop, ship, and maintain secure, well-tested, and performant features for Agent Observability and AI interactions across the GitLab monolith backend and AI gateway. You will design and review GraphQL and REST APIs, improve automated testing, collaborate on iterative product enhancements, share engineering standards, and participate in Tier 2 on-call rotations to resolve production issues and improve resiliency.
Requirements
- Experience building and maintaining production Ruby on Rails applications, including background jobs, APIs, and data models.
- Ability to work across the stack in a mature codebase.
- Proficiency designing or extending REST or GraphQL APIs with scalability, maintainability, and backward compatibility.
- Practical daily experience with AI tooling.
- SQL skills and familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Ability to collaborate in an async-first, distributed team.
- Written and verbal communication skills, including technical proposals and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Develop, ship, and maintain features for Agent Observability and AI interactions.
- Collaborate with product, UX, frontend, backend, and AI specialists to refine requirements and deliver product enhancements.
- Design, implement, and review GraphQL and REST APIs and backend logic.
- Improve and extend automated testing, including RSpec.
- Share engineering standards, patterns, and learnings with other engineers.
- Participate in Tier 2 on-call rotations, troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve observability and resiliency.
