About the Role

You will be responsible for the precise and rapid building of the Stage 2 engine and its sub-assemblies for space vehicles. You'll build and assemble alongside engineers and independently, all while giving design feedback and logging accurate build notes for future reference. You will use your resourcefulness and communication skills to identify and solve issues with the assistance of machinists, welders, and engineers. You will be responsible for maintaining an efficient work area and providing feedback on its layout, tooling, and local inventory storage. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing environments
  • 2+ years of experience in precision assembly of complex engine systems or similar hardware
  • Detailed understanding of fittings, threads, inserts, seals, and other sub-component parts
  • Assembly experience with Oxygen, Cryogenic, and FOD intolerant service components and systems
  • Familiar with operating pressurized systems and proof testing flight hardware
  • Proficient in working with delicate and high-value assemblies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work second shift and weekends as needed
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted
  • Able to stand for extended periods
  • Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
  • Valid driver's license
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing environments (preferred)
  • Detailed understanding of GTAW and laser welding processes and procedures (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Precisely assemble rocket engine hardware directed by both written and verbal instructions
  • Assemble complex engine assemblies according to work orders, drawings, CAD models and verbal instructions
  • Plan builds, organize inventory kits, identify shortages, and order common stock items
  • Precisely clean hardware
  • Identify discrepancies, author nonconformance reports, coordinate with engineering on dispositions, and document steps in detail
  • Follow work orders for component builds and document build steps for new and recurring assembly sequences
