About the Role
You will select, design, and evaluate NeuralGCM+ training and testing cases using historical data and customized physics-based climate-model outputs. You will implement model improvements, present research results, contribute open-source code, mentor interns, and test novel NeuralGCM+ applications.
Requirements
- Substantial experience building and deploying a relevant machine-learning application in a practical or academic research setting
- Fluency in Python and collaborative coding practices
- PhD in computer or computational science, applied mathematics/statistics, atmospheric science, or a related geophysical science
- At least one accepted conference paper or peer-reviewed first-authored publication making extensive use of machine learning
- Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
- Select, design, and evaluate NeuralGCM+ training and testing cases using historical data and customized physics-based climate-model outputs
- Conceive and implement NeuralGCM+ model improvements for unseen climates and earth-system coupling
- Present results at relevant AI and climate-modeling conferences and in peer-reviewed publications
- Contribute to open-source code development, code reviews, design documents, and external collaborator interactions
- Mentor interns as appropriate
