About the Role
You will own machine-level safety cases for autonomous mining deployments and turn hazards into safety requirements and verification criteria. You will conduct safety analyses, identify mitigation measures, support architecture and validation reviews, and participate in field testing and deployment sign-offs.
Requirements
- 3+ years of system safety experience
- Hands-on experience with system-level safety analyses for complex electromechanical systems
- Experience with HAZOP, FMEA, safety requirement derivation, risk assessment, and safety case development
- Understanding of braking, steering, propulsion, hydraulics, and autonomous control systems
- Experience implementing safety requirements across software, hardware, and systems engineering
- Experience supporting verification and validation of safety-critical systems
- Experience producing safety work products across the V-cycle
Responsibilities
- Develop and own machine-level safety cases for autonomous mining vehicle deployments
- Conduct hazard identification, risk assessment, HAZOP, FMEA, and safety gap analysis
- Derive machine safety requirements for vehicle-by-wire, emergency-stop, autonomy, and remote-operation systems
- Analyze hazardous behavior, failure modes, and fault propagation paths
- Translate hazards into implementable safety requirements and verification criteria
- Support architecture reviews, validation strategies, and safety acceptance criteria
- Collaborate with systems, controls, autonomy, software, hardware, and validation teams
