About the Role

You'll enter the engineering interview process as part of a pooled hiring model, focusing on your core strengths and technical craft rather than a specific team's immediate gap. As a Staff Engineer, you'll be a technical anchor for the business, taking long-term accountability for the technical health and strategic direction of different domains. You'll transition from the general pool to a team-matching phase, where your technical strengths and career interests are matched with impactful, strategic challenges. You'll tackle complex and poorly defined problems, breaking them into navigable paths for the rest of the organization. You'll identify and eliminate failure patterns across systems, driving architectural changes that improve scalability and reliability. You'll bridge technical gaps between teams and align them on major technical decisions. You'll help define the AI frontier, building the rails that allow everyone to leverage AI tools safely and effectively. You'll also set the vision for operational excellence and mentor senior engineers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of high-level technical leadership
  • Expertise in building distributed systems
  • Comfortable guiding technical direction across JVM languages, gRPC, and cloud-native infrastructure (AWS)
  • Experience with Python/Django, React, and Postgres
  • Ability to lead through influence rather than authority
