About the Role

You will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing a high-performance Solana validator client from scratch. You'll join the team building a new open-source Solana validator client, Sig, written in the Zig programming language. Your primary responsibility will be understanding the Agave validator implementation codebase, written in Rust, and translating, optimizing, and improving the implementation in Zig. You'll map and communicate how the existing Rust client works, write high-quality, performant, and readable code in Zig, and iteratively analyze and optimize software bottlenecks using high-performance tools such as SIMD operations. You'll own the implementation, benchmarking, and testing of your validator components from start to finish, and collaborate closely with a large group of engineers, breaking down complex ideas into simple terms.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related professional experience using Rust
  • Experience in memory-managed languages (Zig/C/C++) is nice to have but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Understand and communicate how the existing Rust client works
  • Translate Rust code into high-quality, performant, and readable Zig code
  • Analyze and optimize software bottlenecks in Zig using tools such as SIMD operations
  • Lead implementation, benchmarking, and testing of validator components from start to finish
  • Collaborate and communicate across a large group of engineers
