Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack)
FundersClub is an online venture capital firm that sources, evaluates, funds, and supports early-stage startups. It provides accredited investors with access to vetted startup investment opportunities through a web and mobile-enabled platform, while supporting founders with capital, mentorship, community, and startup tools.

FundersClub uses software and community to source, vet, fund, and support promising startups, primarily investing at the Seed and Series A stages with follow-on investments in later rounds. Its platform enables accredited members to review and invest in selected startups, track returns, and follow portfolio company progress. FundersClub also supports founders through its investor and founder networks, hands-on venture team, educational content, events, and Catalyst tools and apps such as Fire.

About the Role
You will maintain the existing FC platform and ship new features, splitting your time between upkeep and new development. You'll also assist the Venture team on technical diligence of startups serving developers, incubation, and similar areas as needed. You'll work with a security-first mindset given the systems handle PII, integrate third-party APIs, and navigate large, undocumented codebases. You'll be expected to ship working code quickly, iterate, adapt to change, and communicate clearly with both engineers and non-engineers, all within a small team environment.
Requirements
- Built complex web applications for 8+ years used by thousands or millions of users
- Ability and interest to learn & implement new frameworks, but existing fluency in backend engineering: Python, Django, Django REST framework
- Frontend engineering: Angular, Typescript, Coffeescript, Grunt
- DevOps: deploying & testing Django apps on AWS (EC2/RDS/ELB/S3)/Heroku/CircleCI
- A security-first mindset, experience handling systems with PII
- Experience & patience extracting answers from large, undocumented codebases
- Experience integrating 3rd party APIs
- A preference for shipping working code quickly and iterative development
- High adaptability to change
- High self-motivation and natural inclination to improve
- Great communication skills with engineers and non-engineers
- A preference for working with small vs. large teams
Responsibilities
- Maintain the existing FC platform (~75% time)
- Ship new features (~25% time)
- Assist Venture team on technical diligence of startups serving developers, incubation, etc (as needed)
