About the Role
You will own and evolve embedded Linux platforms for edge compute systems, with NixOS as a primary focus. You will build operating system images, develop C++ platform software, integrate BSPs and drivers, package dependencies, and improve build, test, deployment, reliability, and recovery processes for deployed hardware.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of Linux systems from userspace through kernels and hardware interfaces
- Experience building, configuring, or maintaining Linux systems used in deployed products
- Experience with Nix, NixOS, Yocto, Buildroot, Debian, Ubuntu, or similar Linux distribution technologies
- Modern C++ systems or platform software experience
- Experience with reproducible builds, dependency management, software packaging, or software supply chains
- Experience diagnosing issues across application, operating system, and hardware boundaries
- Experience with CI/CD and automated build and test systems
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve embedded Linux platforms for edge compute systems
- Build and maintain operating system images, configurations, and software environments
- Maintain NixOS system configuration, packaging, and dependency integration
- Develop C++ systems software and platform tooling
- Integrate vendor BSPs, Linux kernels, device trees, drivers, and hardware dependencies
- Package application and system software dependencies using Nix and other mechanisms
- Develop build, configuration, versioning, testing, and deployment mechanisms for edge devices
- Bring up compute platforms and hardware configurations
- Define interfaces between operating systems, hardware platforms, and application software
- Diagnose issues across applications, Linux userspace, kernels, drivers, and hardware
- Improve reliability, boot behavior, performance, security, and resource utilization
- Develop automated build, test, and validation infrastructure
