About the Role
You will maintain and enhance the Validus product by developing complex data-driven software components and systems with a focus on C++ and Python. You will evaluate technologies and cloud architectures, develop testing infrastructure and automated tests, debug production issues with the operations team, build internal deployment and monitoring tools, refine feature specifications with the product team, improve software development processes, and interview candidates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another technical discipline
- 5+ years of experience solving complex problems with sophisticated distributed, data-driven, highly performant software applications
- Proficiency in C++ and Python
- Experience with AWS or other cloud technology stacks and cloud architectures
- Experience improving development, quality, release, and deployment processes
- Experience integrating third-party software systems and writing components from scratch
- Experience with relational databases, SQL, and core relational database concepts
- Experience using Linux and working in a shell environment
- Ability to write shell scripts and one-liners
- Experience with Git or similar source code management software
- Ability to work effectively remotely
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent communication and task management skills

- Evaluate potential solutions and technologies to help drive architectural direction
- Leverage cloud technologies and architectures
- Develop testing infrastructure and write automated tests
- Debug and remediate live production issues with the operations team
- Develop internal tools for deployment, administration, and monitoring
- Understand and refine feature specifications with the product team
- Develop and refine software development standards, best practices, and processes
- Interview candidates for other team roles
