About the Role
Build and own the data backbone for Lydian's technical organization by designing structured data infrastructure, integrating experimental, manufacturing, and quality-control data, creating analysis and visualization tools, programming laboratory data-acquisition software, performing statistical analyses, and supporting technical data workflows.
Requirements
- BS or MS in engineering, physical science, computer science, data science, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience working with data in a hardware, laboratory, or physical-science R&D environment.
- Strengths in data acquisition, infrastructure, visualization, and statistical analysis.
- Experience establishing or improving data storage and analysis infrastructure.
- Experience in a hardware-focused chemical engineering and materials science data environment.
- Experience with time-series data and relational databases.
- Proficiency with Python and at least one data-acquisition platform: LabVIEW, DAQ Factory, or Ignition.
- Familiarity with data-acquisition hardware and software protocols.
- Strong cross-disciplinary communication skills.
- Ability to independently identify challenges, prioritize work, and implement solutions as the most senior Data professional on the team.
- Preferred background in chemical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred experience with Notion, Nominal, JMP, additional data-acquisition platforms, IT, or networking.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain data infrastructure across technical tools.
- Integrate experimental time-series data, run metadata, manufacturing data, and quality-control data.
- Build analysis, visualization, and statistical tools.
- Standardize and automate run summary statistics and performance metrics.
- Program and maintain data-acquisition software for R&D and pilot equipment.
- Build data-validation checks at acquisition or entry.
- Perform statistical and regression analyses across manufacturing, quality-control, and experimental data.
- Translate scientists' and engineers' data needs into reliable tools and workflows.
- Help maintain IT infrastructure for data servers and software systems.
