About the Role
You will join the Platform & Developer Experience team as part of the Build squad, playing a critical role in shaping the foundations of developer experience, scalability, and performance of the Crystal platform. You'll work on performance improvements, database query optimisation, monitoring and observability, and end-to-end feature design and implementation, while collaborating closely with the DevOps team and providing code reviews and feedback to your teammates.
Requirements
- 8+ years of commercial experience developing Python backend services and APIs for the web
- Solid software architecture skills
- Experience with distributed systems
- Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and data architecture, including PostgreSQL
- Experience with the Flask framework
- Experience in performance optimisation (database query optimisation, caching)
- Understanding of integration processes with external services
- Product-oriented mindset
- Proficiency in English
- Experience with ClickHouse is a plus
- Experience with systems operating on large data volumes is a plus
- Experience designing AI-enabled developer environments is a plus
- Experience writing raw SQL queries is a plus
- Experience designing and leading major reworks of complex distributed systems is a plus
- Experience with Rust is a plus
- Passion for Bitcoin and blockchain technologies is a plus
Responsibilities
- Improve performance through database query optimisation and scalability enhancements
- Configure monitoring and observability and establish best practices
- Manage and develop internal libraries
- Improve development pipelines, such as code coverage tooling integration, in collaboration with the DevOps team
- Maintain code to high-quality standards
- Design and implement features end-to-end
- Code, debug, test and deliver features and improvements continuously
- Provide code reviews, assistance and constructive feedback to team members
- Refactor code as necessary
