About the Role

You will own the full manufacturing process lifecycle, from early feasibility through scale-up, qualification, and production readiness. You will develop processes, tooling, procedures, controls, and documentation for solid rocket motors and energetic materials. You will improve safety, quality, reliability, cost, and throughput using Lean and Six Sigma methods, analyze process data, resolve deviations, and mentor junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline and 7 years of relevant experience, a relevant Master’s degree and 5 years of experience, or 11 years of hands-on process and manufacturing engineering experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience leading process development and scale-up through production qualification
  • Technical communication and documentation skills
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma implementation experience
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action experience, including 8D, fishbone, or 5-Why methodologies
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret process data
  • Ability to operate within OSHA, ITAR, and hazardous or energetic-material regulatory environments
  • Ability to obtain and maintain applicable state and federal explosives licenses
  • Eligibility under U.S. export regulations or ability to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations
  • Ability to travel up to 15% within the continental United States
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment using personal protective equipment

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end process lifecycle from feasibility through production readiness
  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes, procedures, tooling, and systems for solid rocket motors and energetic materials
  • Lead the transition of manufacturing processes from development and pilot scale to full production
  • Define process controls, qualification criteria, and production-readiness gates
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve safety, quality, reliability, cost, and throughput
  • Develop and report process metrics including yield, defect rates, and cycle time
  • Create, review, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, process specifications, and technical documentation
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders
  • Stay current with energetics processing and manufacturing trends
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians in process engineering, safe energetic-material handling, and manufacturing practices
