About the Role

You will design and model photonic and analog sub-circuits for laser products and optical links. You will create behavioral models, calibrate them using simulation and silicon data, build circuit-level simulations, analyze variation and yield, and validate models against empirical measurements.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Photonics, or a related discipline plus 2+ years of industry experience, or an M.S. plus 5+ years
  • Background in silicon photonic physics and analog circuit fundamentals
  • Experience generating behavioral component models for circuit-level co-simulation
  • Expertise with photonic modeling platforms including Lumerical, RSoft, or Tidy3D
  • Expertise with Cadence Virtuoso and Spectre
  • Python skills for modeling, data extraction, and shared engineering codebases
  • Data-driven technical problem-solving
  • Structured engineering review and simulation automation
  • Written and verbal technical presentation skills
  • Capacity to comply with federally mandated U.S. export control requirements

Responsibilities

  • Construct and maintain compact and behavioral models for active and passive silicon photonic elements
  • Incorporate process variation, dispersion, thermal-optical tuning, and nonlinear properties into component models
  • Partner with device engineers to extract and calibrate model parameters using optical solvers, foundry PDKs, and silicon data
  • Architect and deliver sub-circuit simulations for laser modules and analog interfaces
  • Implement sub-circuit models for optical interconnect blocks
  • Refine sub-circuit topologies against performance indicators including insertion loss, extinction ratio, bandwidth, and noise performance
  • Execute corner, statistical Monte Carlo, and margin analyses to establish tolerances and evaluate yield
  • Validate and iterate behavioral models using empirical silicon measurements

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision health plan
  • Retirement savings matching program
  • Basic, voluntary, and AD&D life insurance
  • Vacation, sick time, and public holidays
  • Paid family leave
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • Training and development
  • Commuter benefits
  • Flexible hybrid workplace model
  • Equity grants for eligible full-time employees
