About the Role

You will develop actuator-, joint-, and grasp-level controls for robotic end-effectors. You will model transmissions, integrate sensing, contribute to mechanism design, perform hardware bring-up, and implement safe, reliable real-time control behavior.

Requirements

• Experience shipping real-time-safe object-oriented C++ control software on real hardware
• Experience tuning and validating controllers on physical actuators
• Experience modeling and controlling real mechanical transmissions
• Experience with end-effectors or comparable multi-DoF mechanisms, grasp control, and sensing
• Experience debugging EtherCAT or CAN on an RTOS or real-time Linux
• Strong control theory foundation applied to multi-DoF mechanisms, Jacobians, numerical IK/FK, and URDF/Xacro

Responsibilities

• Tune and validate actuator- and joint-space control loops for end-effectors in ROS2
• Develop grasp force control, compliant closing, slip correction, and adaptive grasping
• Implement thermal, over-current, stall, jam, and grip-loss safeguards
• Build models of actuators, transmissions, and underactuated mechanisms
• Own joint-to-actuator abstractions and state exposure through the control stack
• Contribute to transmission mechanism design with mechanical engineers
• Integrate and calibrate end-effector sensors
• Perform bring-up and debugging of end-effectors
• Coordinate actuation, transmission, and sensing requirements across disciplines
• Support reliable end-effector use with data collection, applications, and deployment teams
