About the Role
As the founding member of the Developer Experience team, this role will shape how engineers interact with compiler infrastructure by building developer tools, client-side interfaces, hardware performance introspection capabilities, GPU debugging tools, and debug information formats and protocols.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional systems-level software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and performance-critical code.
- Working knowledge of assembly language and low-level debugging techniques.
- Familiarity with DWARF, JTAG, ELF, and COFF.
- Understanding of profiling methodologies and performance analysis tools.
- Ability to work on-site at the Toronto or Santa Clara office.
- GPU programming and debugging experience preferred.
- OS-level interface experience, including I/O subsystems and interrupt handling, preferred.
- Compiler development or toolchain infrastructure background preferred.
- Experience building developer-facing tools or IDEs preferred.
- Open-source debugging or profiling tool contributions preferred.
Responsibilities
- Design and build developer tools for profiling, debugging, and performance introspection across the compiler stack.
- Create client-side tooling that transforms server-side compiler telemetry into actionable information.
- Develop interfaces exposing hardware performance metrics and interrupt data.
- Build GPU debugging capabilities and visualization tools for heterogeneous hardware.
- Define formats and protocols for debug information exchange using DWARF, JTAG, ELF, and COFF.
- Collaborate with compiler engineers and internal teams to understand needs and iterate on tooling.
