About the Role

The Senior Data Engineer will architect and implement Bitfarms’ modern Data Lakehouse and data platform, establish data classification aligned with a Data Loss Prevention initiative, and partner with business, security, IT, and compliance stakeholders to govern and protect data.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering or data platform roles.
  • Experience designing and implementing data lake or lakehouse architectures.
  • Strong experience with data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, and large-scale data processing.
  • Understanding of data classification, governance, and security concepts.
  • Experience collaborating with security or compliance teams on DLP and data privacy initiatives.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain a scalable Data Lakehouse architecture.
  • Define data ingestion, transformation, and storage patterns.
  • Establish data modeling, partitioning, performance, and cost-efficiency best practices.
  • Ensure data availability, reliability, and quality across the platform.
  • Design and implement a data classification framework.
  • Embed classification into pipelines, storage, and access controls.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity and Compliance on DLP.
  • Assess data sources, usage, criticality, and sensitivity.
  • Implement access controls, lineage, and auditability.
  • Support SOX, ITGC, and other compliance-driven data controls.
  • Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot pipelines.
  • Evaluate tools and technologies to improve the data ecosystem.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
