About the Role
The Senior Data Engineer will architect and implement Bitfarms’ modern Data Lakehouse and data platform, establish data classification aligned with a Data Loss Prevention initiative, and partner with business, security, IT, and compliance stakeholders to govern and protect data.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering or data platform roles.
- Experience designing and implementing data lake or lakehouse architectures.
- Strong experience with data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, and large-scale data processing.
- Understanding of data classification, governance, and security concepts.
- Experience collaborating with security or compliance teams on DLP and data privacy initiatives.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain a scalable Data Lakehouse architecture.
- Define data ingestion, transformation, and storage patterns.
- Establish data modeling, partitioning, performance, and cost-efficiency best practices.
- Ensure data availability, reliability, and quality across the platform.
- Design and implement a data classification framework.
- Embed classification into pipelines, storage, and access controls.
- Partner with Cybersecurity and Compliance on DLP.
- Assess data sources, usage, criticality, and sensitivity.
- Implement access controls, lineage, and auditability.
- Support SOX, ITGC, and other compliance-driven data controls.
- Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot pipelines.
- Evaluate tools and technologies to improve the data ecosystem.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
