About the Role
You will design ingestion from transactional and event systems into an analytical platform. You will establish governance, lineage, access controls, reconciliation, and production-readiness practices while maintaining a strict boundary between analytical data and live transaction processing.
Requirements
- Have 5–7 years of data engineering experience
- Have hands-on pipeline design experience
- Understand tradeoffs among AWS-native data tooling, Snowflake, and Databricks
- Have experience with data governance, access control, audit logging, and data lineage
- Understand analytical layers derived from transactional sources of truth
- Have production experience with streaming or event-driven ingestion and transactional databases
- Have strong written communication skills
- Be able to independently own a domain in a developing function
Responsibilities
- Design ingestion pipelines from PostgreSQL and Kafka or MSK into the analytical platform
- Contribute technical input to analytical platform evaluation
- Build data governance practices, including access controls, audit logging, and data lineage
- Maintain the boundary between the analytical layer and the transactional source of truth
- Define data quality and reconciliation practices
- Write RFCs and design documents for ingestion and governance decisions
- Define monitoring, alerting, and failure recovery for data pipelines
- Mentor less-senior data engineers
