About the Role
You will join the Global Claims Governance team to execute risk-based audits that assess technical claims handling performance, key controls, and program compliance across various insurance programs. You'll partner closely with claims leaders to measure performance, evaluate case reserving, and identify risks, delivering clear, actionable insights that drive meaningful improvements. You'll leverage data analytics to enhance audit coverage and testing approaches, produce audit reports, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders. You'll also build strong working relationships with business and functional stakeholders, track audit issues through to resolution, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of claims audit methodology and tools. This role reports to the Global Head of Claims Governance & Oversight and offers the chance to make a tangible impact within a global organization.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15+ years' experience in claims handling or supervisory roles
- At least 5+ years claim audit experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of property & casualty claims and Delegated Claims Authority claims model
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Risk Management, or related discipline preferred
- Basic knowledge of state and federal regulatory insurance environments, underwriting, and reinsurance
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to engage at various stakeholder engagements and client/stewardship meetings
- Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Certification or other similar certifications a plus
- Some travel required for internal business meetings and external engagements (~25%)
- Strong IT skills, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products
Responsibilities
- Execute risk-based P&C claim audits across North America across multiple lines of business
- Assess technical claims handling performance, case reserve accuracy, and other core claim functions amongst various claim administrators
- Apply Claims Audit methodology and professional standards to deliver high-quality, consistent audit outcomes
- Leverage data analytics to enhance claims audit coverage, risk assessment, and testing approaches
- Develop audit claims samples and workbooks to capture key performance indicators and contractual obligations of claims administrators
- Evaluate claims administrator internal claims control environments across business operations
- Maintain awareness of regulatory requirements and industry expectations relevant to the insurance sector
- Produce audit reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders
- Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, and emerging risks with practical recommendations
- Prepare clear, concise audit reports with findings and actionable recommendations
- Partner with business stakeholders to develop appropriate remediation actions
- Track and follow up on audit issues through to resolution, ensuring sustainable outcomes
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with business and functional stakeholders
- Communicate audit observations with clarity and professionalism, providing balanced and constructive challenge
- Coordinate with Program Management and Underwriting Teams for corrective actions and stewardship
- Support audit leadership in delivering insights to senior management
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Claims Audit methodology, tools, and practices
- Support the adoption of data analytics, automation, and continuous auditing techniques
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes, strengthen controls, and enhance operational effectiveness
