About the Role
Formic is seeking Robotics Field Service Technicians for future openings on its Fleet Operations team. The role performs preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, troubleshooting, documentation, and customer support for deployed robotic systems in manufacturing environments.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on field service or maintenance experience with robotic or industrial automation systems.
- Troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, PLC, or robotic control systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings.
- Experience using CMMS platforms.
- Willingness to travel locally up to 80% and overnight up to 50%.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to safety and checklist-driven execution.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete directed tasks with minimal oversight.
- Ability to work hands-on and in person at manufacturing facilities in an assigned region.
- Experience with major industrial robot brands, manufacturing systems, customer-facing field service, or Spanish proficiency is a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Execute preventive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells.
- Perform directed corrective maintenance and repairs.
- Respond to on-site service calls and troubleshoot system issues.
- Provide technical support to customer operators and maintenance teams.
- Record service activity, asset updates, and parts requirements in CMMS systems.
- Monitor system performance and report anomalies to engineering.
- Document service work and follow-up actions.
- Flag recurring issues and support root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Maintain professional relationships with plant managers and site personnel.
- Follow LOTO, safety, and industrial compliance requirements.
- Develop technical skills across robotics, controls, networking, and industrial systems.
