About the Role

Formic seeks a Robotics Field Service Technician for its Fleet Operations team. The role performs preventive and corrective maintenance, responds to service calls, supports customer operators, documents work, and helps improve reliability across deployed robotic systems.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on field service or maintenance experience with robotic or industrial automation systems.
  • Troubleshooting experience across electrical, mechanical, PLC, or robotic control systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Experience using CMMS platforms.
  • Ability to travel locally up to 80% and overnight up to 50%.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety and checklist-driven execution.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete directed tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Experience with Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, ABB, or Universal Robots is a bonus.
  • Familiarity with palletizing, case packing, pick-and-place, or conveyor systems is a bonus.
  • Prior customer-facing field experience and Spanish proficiency are bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells.
  • Perform directed corrective maintenance and repairs.
  • Respond to on-site service calls and escalate complex issues.
  • Provide technical support to customer operators and maintenance teams.
  • Log service activity, asset updates, and spare parts in CMMS systems.
  • Monitor system performance and report anomalies.
  • Document service work and follow-up actions.
  • Flag recurring failures for engineering investigation.
  • Build relationships with plant managers and site personnel.
  • Follow safety standards including LOTO and industrial compliance.
  • Support root-cause analysis, audits, and continuous improvement.
  • Build skills across robotics, controls, networking, and industrial systems.
