About the Role
Formic is hiring a Robotics Field Service Technician for its Fleet Operations team. The role performs preventive and corrective maintenance, responds to service calls, supports customer operators, documents work in CMMS systems, monitors system performance, and escalates complex issues to engineering. The position requires local and overnight travel and is paid $25–$32 per hour.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on field service or maintenance experience with robotic or industrial automation systems.
- Troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, PLC, or robotic control systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings.
- Experience using CMMS platforms.
- Ability to handle local travel up to 80% and overnight travel up to 50%.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to safety and checklist-driven execution.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and complete directed tasks with minimal oversight.
- Experience with six-axis robot brands, manufacturing systems, customer-facing field service, or Spanish proficiency is beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells.
- Perform directed corrective maintenance and repairs.
- Respond to on-site service calls and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Provide hands-on technical support to customer operators and maintenance teams.
- Log service activity, asset updates, and spare part requirements in CMMS systems.
- Monitor system performance and report anomalies to engineering.
- Document service work and follow-up actions.
- Identify recurring issues and failure patterns for engineering investigation.
- Build relationships with plant managers and site personnel.
- Follow LOTO, safety standards, and industrial compliance requirements.
- Support root-cause analysis sessions, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop technical skills across robotics, controls, networking, and industrial systems.
