About the Role
Formic is hiring a Robotics Field Service Technician for its Fleet Operations team. The role works in live manufacturing environments to maintain robotic cells, restore production, document service activity, and improve system reliability.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on field service or maintenance experience with robotic or industrial automation systems.
- Troubleshooting experience across electrical, mechanical, PLC, or robotic control systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings.
- Experience using CMMS platforms.
- Ability to travel locally up to 80% and overnight up to 50%.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and checklist-driven execution.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and complete directed tasks with minimal oversight.
- Experience with Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, ABB, or Universal Robots is a plus.
- Familiarity with palletizing, case packing, pick-and-place, or conveyor systems is a plus.
- Manufacturing experience and prior customer-facing field experience are advantages.
- Spanish proficiency is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on robotic manufacturing cells.
- Perform directed corrective maintenance and repairs.
- Respond to on-site service calls and escalate complex issues to engineering.
- Provide technical support to customer operators and maintenance teams.
- Log service activity, asset updates, and spare-part requirements in CMMS systems.
- Coordinate field schedules and logistics with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor system performance and report anomalies.
- Document service work and follow-up actions.
- Identify recurring issues and failure patterns for engineering review.
- Build professional relationships with plant managers and site personnel.
- Follow LOTO, safety, and industrial compliance standards.
- Support root-cause analysis, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop technical skills across robotics, controls, networking, and industrial systems.
