About the Role

You will conduct empirical research on AI's global economic effects and expand the Economic Index. You will develop measurement and causal-inference methods, improve data infrastructure, build research partnerships, and translate findings into product and policy recommendations.

Requirements

• PhD in Economics
• Empirical research experience using novel data sources, economic theory, causal inference, or machine learning
• Labor-market analysis
• Econometric methods
• Large-scale data analysis
• Large language model research
• Macroeconomic modeling
• Time-series forecasting
• Python, R, SQL, or similar data-analysis tools
• Experience leading research projects and communicating technical findings
• Writing sample

Responsibilities

• Develop and expand the Anthropic Economic Index
• Produce quarterly reports and industry-specific research
• Design and conduct empirical research on AI's economic effects
• Develop methods for studying labor markets, productivity, inequality, industry disruption, and aggregate economic outcomes
• Develop causal-inference tooling for evaluating economic consequences of compute, product, and pricing decisions
• Build relationships with academic institutions, policy think tanks, and research partners
• Improve measurement infrastructure and data collection
• Translate research insights into product and policy recommendations
• Publish research and present findings to stakeholders
