About the Role

You will design and implement sparse algorithms for large-scale scientific and numerical computing. You will evaluate scalability on supercomputers, analyze performance and energy trade-offs, release open-source software, collaborate with domain scientists, mentor students, and publish research.

Requirements

  • PhD in computer science, applied mathematics, computational science, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated depth in a listed specialization through publications, software, or comparable research output
  • Hands-on experience developing and applying HPC algorithms to sparse numerical, scientific, and machine-learning models
  • Completion of PhD requirements before the appointment begins
  • PhD received no more than five years before application
  • Three letters of reference

Responsibilities

  • Design sparse algorithms for large-scale numerical, scientific, and AI models
  • Demonstrate algorithm scalability on leadership supercomputers
  • Develop mathematical analyses of performance, energy-efficiency, and time trade-offs
  • Publish research and present at conferences
  • Release open-source research software and contribute to community code
  • Collaborate with domain scientists and mentor students
