About Optimum
Optimum is a blockchain infrastructure company building a decentralized data-acceleration network powered by Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC). Its currently available mump2p protocol provides libp2p/GossipSub-compatible propagation of blocks, blobs, and transactions, aiming to reduce latency and bandwidth use without requiring consensus changes. The organization serves L1/L2 teams, validators, node operators, dApp developers, and end users; it also operates a permissionless network of Flexnodes and documents Optimum Gateway for builders and operators.
Skills
About the Role
You will turn product ideas into working prototypes, test and benchmark them against alternatives, and share clear findings. You will collaborate with product stakeholders to understand user needs and performance priorities, iterate quickly based on feedback, use AI coding tools to accelerate experimentation, and support roadmap decisions with data and demos.
Requirements
- Demonstrate hands-on software engineering and full-stack engineering skills.
- Show a record of shipping work through open-source contributions or side projects.
- Build backend services, APIs, and web front ends.
- Apply a prototyping mindset.
- Measure and benchmark performance.
- Communicate clearly in writing.
- Work effectively with a distributed team.
- Have experience with Go or another systems language and React or TypeScript.
- Understand real-time data systems, latency-sensitive applications, or high-performance workloads.
- Have experience with blockchain networks, P2P networking, or trading and MEV workflows.
- Work directly with product or business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Build working prototypes of new ideas with the engineering and product team.
- Design and run benchmarks against competing solutions.
- Report benchmark results clearly.
- Collaborate with the product team to understand user workflows, performance needs, and willingness to pay.
- Iterate quickly by shipping prototypes, presenting findings, gathering feedback, and deciding what to retain.
- Use AI coding tools, including Claude Code and Cursor, to accelerate prototyping.
- Inform the roadmap with data and working demos.
