About the Role
You diagnose, repair, and rework bitcoin mining hashboards and related components at the component level. You perform micro-soldering, desoldering, testing, and troubleshooting of hashboards, power supply units, and control boards using schematics and electronic test equipment. You determine whether boards can be repaired or must be scrapped, document failure analysis, maintain repair records, improve workflows, and mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians. You also support training, equipment maintenance, workplace safety, and repair center operations.
Requirements
- Technical or vocational diploma in electronics or electrical engineering technology, or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of experience in hashboard repair, electronics repair, or a similar bench repair field
- Experience progressing beyond entry-level Technician I work
- Experience training, mentoring, or supporting junior technicians
- Experience with embedded systems
- Experience with ASIC-based mining hardware such as Antminer or Whatsminer
- Advanced micro-soldering experience on densely populated boards
- Ability to perform complex soldering and mechanical assembly
- Critical thinking and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of hashboard architecture and hash chip function
- Ability to diagnose and repair power supply unit and control board failures
- Ability to work independently and lead others
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 40 pounds
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Standard First Aid and CPR or electrical safety training are assets
Responsibilities
- Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Hashboard Repair Technician I staff
- Lead complex, escalated, or ambiguous repair cases
- Review junior technicians' work for quality and completeness
- Provide constructive feedback to junior technicians
- Develop and refine training materials, repair standards, and workflow procedures
- Support onboarding of new technicians
- Optimize bench workflows and prioritize repair queues
- Diagnose, test, and repair hashboards at the chip, component, and trace levels
- Perform micro-soldering and desoldering of BGA chips, hash chips, capacitors, resistors, inductors, and small SMD components
- Diagnose and repair power supply units and control boards
- Troubleshoot components using schematics, assembly prints, mechanical drawings, and electronic test equipment
- Test and adjust repaired hashboards, power supply units, and control boards
- Document and communicate failure analysis results
- Maintain accurate repair records and failure-mode data
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on production and test equipment
- Maintain diagrams, manuals, schematics, and blueprints
- Follow workshop housekeeping rules
- Follow workplace safety practices and report unsafe conditions
- Report incidents, injuries, and near misses
- Assist teammates when required
- Attend safety committee meetings
- Follow company policies and workplace behavior standards
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations
