About the Role
You will design and release vehicle body components and assemblies, plan their development and validation, define system requirements and specifications, support testing and manufacturing decisions, collaborate with suppliers and engineering partners, and establish body-design processes and best practices.
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent or higher
- 4+ years of automotive body-system design or engineering experience
- Knowledge of vehicle engineering, body-system design, body materials, manufacturing processes, and component delivery
- Experience developing specifications, DFMEAs, DVPs, PVPs, APQP, and quality-assurance processes
- Experience with design for six sigma
- Ability to implement GD&T and dimensional-engineering principles
- Proficiency with CATIA V5 or V6 CAD software
- Communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and design vehicle body components and assemblies
- Lead component development and release to meet cost, weight, and performance requirements
- Develop schedules and plans for component development, release, delivery, and validation
- Define and negotiate body-system requirements and specifications
- Support component and vehicle validation testing
- Support material and manufacturing-process decisions
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, manufacturing, and suppliers
- Develop processes, procedures, and best practices for body design and development
