Analytics Engineer
Skills
About the Role
You will design, implement, and maintain SQL-based curated data models that make on-chain concepts reusable and reliable. You will extend datasets with new entities, metrics, and dimensions, write documentation and tests, and create new models when onboarding blockchains. You will reverse-engineer smart contracts and protocol mechanics to determine what to extract and how to model it, use transformation frameworks like dbt or SQLMesh to orchestrate and test changes, ensure pipelines are reliable and cost-aware, manage community contributions via GitHub, and collaborate with product and go-to-market to unlock clear user value.
Requirements
- Exceptional blockchain data knowledge and the ability to read events, traces, and state with confidence
- Hands-on understanding of how smart contracts work and how protocol designs map to data models
- Strong SQL skills and experience building analytical models on large datasets
- Interest in understanding query engines and applying that knowledge to craft optimized queries
- Practical experience with a data transformation tool such as dbt or SQLMesh
- Ability to navigate blockchains and protocols autonomously to determine what matters and how to model it
- Prior Dune power user experience (nice to have)
- Understanding of Solana account model, programs, and IDL ecosystem (nice to have)
- Exposure to data engineering concepts and pipelines, including testing, observability, and CI for data (nice to have)
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain SQL-based curated models that standardize on-chain concepts across chains and protocols
- Extend curated datasets with new entities, metrics, and dimensions and provide strong documentation and tests
- Create new data models when onboarding additional blockchains, aligning with chain-specific standards and quirks
- Reverse-engineer smart contracts and protocol mechanics to determine what to extract, how to decode it, and how to model it
- Use transformation frameworks (dbt or SQLMesh) to orchestrate, test, and review changes end to end
- Partner with engineers to ensure pipelines are reliable, documented, and cost-aware from raw to curated layers
- Manage and maintain community data contributions through the public GitHub repository and other channels
- Collaborate with product and go-to-market to ensure curated models unlock clear user value
