About the Role

You conduct day-to-day transaction monitoring and AML investigations from alert review through suspicious activity reporting. You investigate transaction monitoring and blockchain alerts, trace bitcoin activity across hops, analyze counterparty exposure, compile evidence for suspicious activity determinations, document defensible audit trails, use AI-enabled investigation tools, support compliance operations, and escalate anomalies or suspicious behavior.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in AML, financial crime, or fraud investigations
• At least 1 year dedicated to blockchain or digital asset investigations
• Ability to follow bitcoin transactions across hops and interpret on-chain counterparty exposure
• Exceptional analytical abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to analyze public records, transaction data, and KYC data
• Excellent written communication and narrative skills
• Working knowledge of BSA/AML obligations, OFAC sanctions basics, and money laundering red flags and typologies
• Working proficiency with blockchain analytics tools such as Chainalysis and TRM Labs
• Working proficiency with open source research, KYC tools, case management tools, and platforms such as Zendesk
• Willingness to learn and adopt AI tooling
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a remote, fast-paced setting
• Ability to work with a high degree of urgency
• Fluency in English
• Knowledge or experience of Lightning Network transactions and investigations

Responsibilities

• Investigate and disposition transaction monitoring alerts across internal AML and blockchain rules
• Document investigative conclusions in a defensible audit trail
• Use blockchain analytics tools to review on-chain counterparty exposure
• Trace flagged blockchain activity
• Compile evidence, transaction records, and case summaries for suspicious activity determinations and SAR narrative drafting
• Use AI tooling to complete casework more quickly and thoroughly
• Support external requests, onboarding and screening queues, complaints, and remediation work
• Detect and escalate anomalies or suspicious behavior in line with AML and fraud policies
