Systems Engineer
Harmony is an open blockchain network focused on data sharding, fast transaction finality, and decentralized applications. It supports tokens, smart contracts, cross-chain transfers, staking, and privacy-oriented zero-knowledge applications.
Projects
About Harmony ONE
Harmony operates a decentralized blockchain platform designed to scale digital economies through secure state sharding, proof-of-stake validation, and fast Byzantine-fault-tolerant consensus. Its ecosystem includes onchain products for token swapping, bridging, multisig custody, wallets, lending, and Telegram-based rewards, serving developers, validators, communities, and users building or using blockchain applications.
Skills
About the Role
You will design and implement core blockchain systems focused on security, scalability, and decentralization. You will operate and maintain a large node network, optimize throughput and performance, profile and debug low-level code, prototype research ideas, and coordinate engineering work and incident responses, including off-hour emergencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in computer science with specialization in kernel data structures or compilers
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience including at least 1 year of startup experience
- Ability to work full-time onsite five days per week in Palo Alto California and handle off-hour emergencies
- Exceptional communication and people skills
Responsibilities
- Develop blockchain systems with high security scalability and decentralization
- Operate and maintain a large network of nodes and manage on-chain assets
- Optimize system throughput to support very high request rates with cost constraints
- Prototype and implement research-driven features and performance improvements
- Debug and profile low-level code including hexadecimal-level analysis
- Coordinate asynchronously with engineers and write technical updates
- Respond to off-hour emergencies and on-call incidents
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders
