Hopae is an identity-verification technology company offering global eID access through its Hopae Connect platform. Connect provides a unified API, hosted OIDC flow, and direct REST API integrations for verification against government, bank, and private identity providers. Hopae also offers an accredited, eIDAS 2.0-compliant wallet SDK. It serves identity-verification and e-signature providers, financial services, and businesses in sectors such as gambling, telecoms, retail, travel, hospitality, and mobility.

About the Role
You'll help build the foundation that protects and connects digital identities around the world. You will design and maintain the core backend systems and high-availability infrastructure of the hConnect platform, and you'll develop and extend modules that integrate with national electronic ID systems and external identity services worldwide. You'll ensure system stability while progressively improving performance to handle future traffic growth, and you'll design and maintain flexible, reliable APIs that connect internal services with external partners. You'll also collaborate closely with your teammates through code reviews, writing clean and maintainable code, and helping foster a strong culture of engineering excellence.
Requirements
- Ability to go beyond assigned tasks, understand business goals, and drive improvements independently
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and undefined situations
- Deep technical curiosity about how technologies work at their core
- Transparent communication and collaboration with the team
- Solid understanding of Node.js and TypeScript with at least 2 years of backend development experience
- Strong CS fundamentals and hands-on mastery of at least one technology (preferred)
- Practical experience with OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, JWT, and Access Token flows (preferred)
- 0-to-1 product experience building and scaling early-stage products (preferred)
- Understanding of client environment compatibility across browsers and mobile platforms (preferred)
- Experience with test automation and code quality improvement (preferred)
- Experience designing and operating architectures for large-scale traffic (preferred)
- API Gateway / PaaS / SaaS development experience (preferred)
- Experience with Docker, RabbitMQ/Kafka, and cloud environments such as AWS/GCP (preferred)
Responsibilities
