About the Role
You will design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services that power blockchain integrations, digital asset custody, and on-chain transaction processing at scale. You will build and evolve integrations with blockchain networks, crypto providers, and custody infrastructure to support multi-chain, multi-asset operations. You will contribute to the architecture and evolution of the Layer 1 platform, ensuring reliability, security, and data integrity across networks and asset types. You will build and maintain APIs covering the full digital asset lifecycle, from address generation and deposits to withdrawals, consolidation, and balance management. You will drive improvements in observability, performance, and resilience, collaborate with product, design, and other engineering squads, participate in code reviews and architectural discussions, mentor peers, and take part in an out-of-hours on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a backend software engineer with deep proficiency in Java, Kotlin or similar JVM-based languages
- Experience designing, building, and operating microservices in a distributed systems environment
- Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, SQS/SNS)
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts and modern software delivery practices (CI/CD)
- Experience with observability and reliability tooling including logging, metrics, tracing, and performance optimisation
- Comfortable working with Jira, Confluence, Git-based workflows, and collaborative engineering practices
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A thoughtful, practical approach to problem-solving that considers tradeoffs and avoids over-engineering
