About the Role

You will analyze investment opportunities with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, researching new strategies and interpreting complex financial data. You will build and validate financial models, run downside scenarios, and apply statistical and econometric techniques to forecast economic trends and evaluate M&A scenarios. You will develop and maintain relationships with counterparties to identify new opportunities and clearly communicate investment advantages and risks. You will also support trading of securities to implement firm-wide M&A strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field
  • Experience with financial modeling techniques including discounted cash flow analysis, macroeconomic forecasting, and corporate finance valuation methods
  • Experience with probability theory, statistical inference, linear regression, and stochastic processes applied to statistical models of investment
  • Experience with M&A probability and timing tools using statistical software including Python and R, as well as econometric techniques for forecasting
  • Experience with derivatives pricing and hedging strategies applied to equity and equity-linked securities using Monte Carlo simulation and Black-Scholes option pricing models
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally 5-10% by air

Responsibilities

  • Analyze investment opportunities with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, and interpret complex financial data
  • Research new investment strategies and assess M&A probability and timing
  • Perform economic and financial analysis of companies involved in M&A activities using statistical and mathematical modeling techniques
  • Analyze complex financial documents and analyst reports to evaluate potential mergers
  • Research and develop analytical tools to assess M&A opportunities
  • Build predictive models using financial statistical software to forecast merger likelihood, timing, and probability
  • Develop and maintain relationships with counterparties to identify new M&A investment opportunities
  • Utilize advanced statistical analytics to support securities trading and implement firm-wide M&A strategies
  • Develop simulation models to support investment theses related to M&A activities
  • Apply econometric time series techniques to forecast economic trends impacting M&A
  • Develop and validate detailed financial models, including downside scenarios and financial projections
  • Identify and communicate investment advantages and risk scenarios for each investment
  • Perform rigorous analysis on financial covenants and corporate structures, incorporating credit indentures and ratings agency reports
