About the Role
You will join the Finance team and take ownership of key tasks around corporate tax, VAT, wage tax, and transfer pricing. You will ensure that tax filings and declarations are prepared correctly and submitted on time, help build robust processes and controls, and actively contribute to the development of the Tax Compliance Management System (TCMS). You will work closely with Accounting, Legal, the Head of Corporate Taxes, and external advisors, acting as the first point of contact for tax questions in daily business. As Upvest expands across Europe and establishes new companies and permanent establishments abroad, you will assess the tax implications of new country and entity structures, coordinate with local advisors, and make sure the international setup is tax-robust and scalable from the start.
Requirements
- Several years of relevant professional experience in tax consulting, a corporate tax department, or auditing with a tax focus
- Solid knowledge of German tax law (including AO, EStG, KStG, UStG) and basic knowledge of transfer pricing regulations
- Experience preparing tax returns and filings and dealing with tax authorities
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Oracle NetSuite) is a plus and very good Excel skills are required
- Fluent German and very good English communication skills, including the ability to explain complex matters clearly
- Strong sense of responsibility and a structured, careful working style
- Interest in brokerage, trading and wealth management and a good understanding of financial markets

Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit VAT advance returns, corporate and trade tax returns, and other tax filings on time
- Contribute to the preparation and ongoing maintenance of transfer pricing documentation
- Assess and support wage tax matters in close coordination with the People team
- Develop and maintain the Tax Compliance Management System (TCMS) and related work instructions
- Establish and continuously monitor robust internal controls for tax processes
- Collaborate closely with the Accounting team on tax topics during monthly, quarterly and annual closings
- Contribute to cross-functional projects linking tax compliance with accounting and business goals
- Support the tax assessment and structuring involved in founding new companies and permanent establishments abroad, including legal form selection, registration requirements and permanent establishment risks
- Coordinate local tax advisors across countries and ensure new entities are set up correctly for tax purposes and integrated into group structures from the start
